Guilford to Host Screening of “Women, War & Peace” Sept. 29

Guilford and UNC-TV will present a preview screening of the new PBS series “Women, War & Peace” Thursday, Sept. 29, from 7-9 p.m. in Dana Auditorium on the Guilford campus.

“Women, War & Peace” is a five-part series that challenges the conventional wisdom that war and peace are men’s domain. The series spotlights stories of women living in conflict zones such as Bosnia, Colombia, Afghanistan and Liberia. It premieres Tuesday, Oct. 11, on UNC-TV.

The Sept. 29 screening will be followed by Focus On: Women, War & Peace, an expert panel discussion moderated by UNC-TV’s Deborah Noel, including:

• Pamela Hogan, executive producer, “Women, War & Peace”
• Amal Khoury, assistant professor of peace and conflict studies, Guilford College
• Maura Busch Nsonwu, assistant professor of sociology and social work, N.C. A&T University, and research fellow, Center for New North Carolinians

The panel discussion will be taped for broadcast in October on UNC-TV.

The screening and discussion are free and open to the public, however, pre-registration is requested.
