Green Tour Highlights Guilford’s Sustainability Commitments
A monthly tour highlighting Guilford’s various sustainability commitments is now available for future students and their families, area residents and current students, faculty and staff.
Sponsored by the Admission and Sustainability Offices, the 75-minute “green” tour will be offered the first Friday of each month at 3 p.m. beginning Sept. 2. Other tours are scheduled Oct. 7, Nov. 4 and Dec. 2. There is no charge to participate.
The tour will originate from New Garden Hall on campus and is limited to seven people. Transportation will be by golf cart, which will allow for easy access to Guilford’s farm about a half mile from the center of campus.
Make tour reservations by calling 336-316-2100 or 800-992-7759. Information about self-guided “green” and full campus tours are available from New Garden Hall.
Stops on the “green” tour will include Archdale Hall, the P.E. Center, the farm, Earth tubs, the bike shop and the Greenleaf.
Points of emphasis will be the LEED Silver certification of Archdale Hall, solar thermal panel installations on campus buildings, energy generation, savings and efficiency, local food purchasing and production, composting and student co-ops.
