David Hammond Directs “Hamlet” in New York

Professor of Theatre Studies David Hammond was invited to direct a showcase performance of “Hamlet” this summer in New York.

The production introduces the work of Empirical Rogue, a new company started by graduates of the American Repertory Theatre/Moscow Art Theatre School Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at Harvard University, where Hammond regularly teaches during Guilford breaks.

Its three performances in August will play to an invited audience of producers, backers, agents, press members and representatives from major institutional theatres. The production is co-produced by the cell, an artists’ collective in New York that fosters the development of new work.
