Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis to Perform June 10
The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis will perform Friday, June 10, at 8 p.m. in Dana Auditorium as part of the 50th anniversary of Eastern Music Festival.
Marsalis, who attended EMF as a student and returned as a visiting artist, is a trumpeter, composer, bandleader, music educator and Artistic Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center. He has been awarded nine Grammys and the first Pulitzer Prize for Music for a jazz recording.
The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis serves as the resident orchestra performing at Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City and around the world.
EMF has been based at Guilford since its founding by Guilford professor Sheldon Morgenstern in 1961. EMF is scheduled this year June 25-July 30 and will host 200 young artists and 80 faculty musicians who return to study, enjoy and share classical music.
