Golf Team Seeking Another Title in NCAAs May 10-13

Live scoring for the championship.

The golf team will seek its fourth national title all-time when it co-hosts the NCAA Division III Championships May 10-13 at Grandover Resort in Greensboro.

Guilford has been ranked among the top teams in Division III all year and qualified for the tournament by winning the Old Dominion Athletic Conference championship. The full 40-team field was announced May 2.

28 tournament teams were automatic qualifiers and 12 teams and five individuals were at-large selections. Other North Carolina selections were Greensboro College and Methodist University, which won last year’s championship by one stroke over Guilford.

During the regular season the Quakers compiled a 23-7 record against 13 of the other 39 teams in the field.

The team and individual champions will be determined after 72 holes of play or the conclusion of the last fully completed round. After 36 holes, the field will be cut to the top 15 teams and top five individuals not on one of those teams.

The Quakers have qualified for national playoff competition 28 times in the last 35 years. They won Division III titles in 2002 and 2005 and the NAIA title in 1989.

The Greensboro Sports Commission is co-hosting the event.
