New Website and GuilfordNet Tips Offered for All Users

Guilford’s new website and GuilfordNet (intranet) were launched Saturday, April 16, marking a milestone in the development of online communications at the College.

The website has been streamlined and focused for an external audience including future students. GuilfordNet is password-protected and will address the every-day needs of faculty, staff and students.

There is a link for GuilfordNet at the bottom of every page on the website or you may point your browser to http://intranet.guilford.edu. Please familiarize yourself with GuilfordNet.

A Web_FAQ has been developed to answer basic questions. Meanwhile, here are a few tips for using GuilfordNet and finding important content on the intranet or website:

Academic Calendar: The spring 2011 academic calendar and other calendars are available in the archive of the old website.

Beacon: The Beacon is on the news and events page of the website. For the next several weeks, make submissions directly to Sara Butner (butnerse@guilford.edu), Ty Buckner (rbuckner@guilford.edu) or Virginia Ferguson (vferguso@guilford.edu). The Beacon continues to be delivered by email each Friday (every two weeks in the summer).

Buzz: Faculty and staff and student announcements from the Buzz appear on the left side of the GuilfordNet home page. There is a link to The Buzz for submissions and more information at the top of every GuilfordNet page. The Buzz continues to be delivered by email daily.

Commencement: Information about Commencement is linked from the right side of the GuilfordNet home page. Parents, families and guests can find information on the Parents page of the website.

Course-related Content: Find course-related content in the archive of the old website at http://www2.guilford.edu. This archive is temporary until departmental content is migrated to Moodle or the new website.

Email: Find the link to your email account in the lower right corner of the website home page and the left corner of the GuilfordNet home page. You may also point your browser to http://mail.guilford.edu.

Exam Schedule: The spring 2011 exam schedule is linked from the right side of the GuilfordNet home page.

Library Hours: The hours of opening for Hege Library are on the library page.

Moodle: Links to Moodle are located at the bottom of every page on GuilfordNet. Or, log on directly to Moodle.

Registration: Registration for summer terms and fall semester is still through Banner Web, which can be accessed from a link at the bottom of every page on GuilfordNet page and the website. More information is available on the Registrar’s Page in the Academic section of GuilfordNet and the website.

Site Map: An expandable, interactive site map in the quick links in the lower right corner of each website page can be used to navigate throughout the website.

The web team is working to correct any problems that have occurred in the transition to the new website and GuilfordNet. If you have questions or concerns, contact Aimee White at webcomm@guilford.edu. Response time will be as rapid as possible and will depend on the volume of inquiries.
