Baseball - Guilford College

Congratulations to the Guilford baseball class of 2008. Pictured prior to commencement exercises from left to right are Phil Drew, Zach Schlesinger, head coach Nick Black '02, Mike Braverman and Chuck Taylor.
Former Guilford baseball student Joe Overby '08 is playing with the New York Capitols of the New York State Baseball League. Overby was one of 50 players chosen from a field of over 400 applicants to play in the two-team developmental league this year. The league was established in 2007 for players who have exhausted their college eligibility.
Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) baseball coaches recognized Guilford's Phil Drew and Alex Starbuck on the league's annual all-star and sportsmanship teams. Drew earned honorable mention All-ODAC laurels for the second straight season while Starbuck represented Guilford on the league's Sportsmanship Team. Click here for the full release.
The Quakers finished the season with a 17-22 record (6-12 in the ODAC). Guilford loses five seniors from the 2008 team to graduation, and expect as many as 36 letter winners back in 2009.
The Guilford Quaker Network produced live Internet webcasts of 17 regular-season baseball games this season. Click here for the full spring sports webcast archives. There is no charge to the listener to hear the webcasts carried over the Internet by www.stretchinternet.com.
