Parrish Named ODAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Greensboro, N.C. (2/27/07) -- Guilford College's Krystal Parrish received the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week Award Tuesday. The announcement marks the first spring awards of the season and Parrish's first player of the week honor.
Parrish, a junior captain, posted a three-set win in the Quakers' spring season-opening victory over Peace Feb. 24. She rallied to beat the Pacers' Anna Jane Hesmer, 6-7 (4-7), 6-1, 11-9 in Guilford's 8-1 win. The victory marked her first second-singles win since 2005. Earlier in the day, Parrish teamed with sophomore Nika Botkin for an 8-6 first-doubles victory. Including fall competition, Parrish has a 1-2 overall singles record this year.
Coach Jennifer Anderson's Quakers (1-0) begin ODAC play with their first home match of the season this Saturday (3/3) against Bridgewater at 12 noon.
