W&L WINS 2005 ODAC WOMEN'S TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP
Roanoke, VA (4/25/05) -- Washington & Lee University won it's third straight and 14th overall ODAC Tennis Championship. The Generals won all six singles flights and all three doubles flights in the three day tournament.
The Generals scored 72.0 points, followed by Emory & Henry with 36.0. Randolph Macon finished third with 35 points and Hollins University fourth with 32.5 points. Washington & Lee's #1 Singles player Senior Lindsay Hagerman won the ODAC player of the Year Award and the ODAC Scholar Athlete of the Year. Hagerman set the W&L career record for wins in singles and doubles. She is a finalist for the NCAA Walter Byers Scholarship, a prestigious award given to just one athlete in all NCAA Divisions.
Emory & Henry Head Coach Beverly Hatch won the ODAC Coach of the Year award.
Eastern Mennonite Freshman Laurelyn Foderaro won the ODAC Rookie of the Year
award. Randolph Macon Woman's College won the Team Sportsmanship Award. The top
four players in each singles flight earned all-tournament honors and the top two
seeded players in each flight earned All-ODAC first and second team awards.
