Women's Swimming Releases (2005) - Yellow Jackets Invitational - Day One - Guilford College

 

      Ashland, VA (12/3/05) -- Host Randolph-Macon won eight of Friday's nine events to take a commanding lead in the 13-team Yellow Jacket Women's Swimming Invitational Friday at Estes Pool. The Yellow Jackets captured each of the first day's three relays, including the 200-yard medley relay anchored by Maureen McLaughlin that set a pool record with a winning time of 1:54.23. McLaughlin won the 50-yard freestyle and teammate Erin Ewalt took the 400-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.

 

      Randolph-Macon Woman's College's Kim Edmonds, the lone winner not from Randolph-Macon, won the 100-yard breast stroke in a pool-record time of 1:09.23.

 

      Guilford freshman Dana Putney turned in the Quakers' best finish with a fourth-place showing in the 100-yard butterfly (1:05.15).

 

      The meet concludes Saturday (Dec. 3).
