GUILFORD SWIMMING PLACES NINTH AT ODAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Radford, VA (2/19/06) -- Guilford College's women's swimming team placed ninth among 12 teams at the 2006 Atlantic States/Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships Sunday. The three-day meet concluded with first- and second-day leader Washington and Lee capturing the team title with 827 points. Randolph-Macon placed second with 566.5 points and Randolph-Macon Woman's College took third with 333 points.
Among the six events contested Sunday, Guilford's best effort was freshman Dana Putney's third-place showing in the 200-yard butterfly. She competed the course in 2:27.38. Putney also swam on the Quakers' 400 freestyle relay squad that placed fourth.
The Atlantic States/ODAC Championships conclude Guilford's second swimming season in school history. The Quakers logged a 3-6 overall record in dual meets, 2-4 in the ODAC.
