Guilford's Truelove Lands All-ODAC Swimming Honor
Greensboro,
NC (3/2/06) -- Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's swimming
coaches bestowed All-ODAC honors on Guilford College freshman Lauren Truelove
Wednesday. Truelove is the first all-conference honoree in Guilford's two-year
women's swimming history.
A 5-8 freestyle specialist, Truelove posted Guilford's fastest times in the program's brief history in the 50-, 100- and 200-yard freestyle events at the season-ending Atlantic States/ODAC Championships Feb. 17-19. Her time of 26.27 seconds placed fifth in the 50 freestyle. She took eighth in the 100 freestyle (57.79 seconds) and 12th in the 200 freestyle (2:12.50). Truelove also anchored four relay teams at the championship meet, including three top-five finishers. She individually scored 29.5 of Guilford's 229.5 points at the meet, and contributed to the 100 points garnered by the four relay teams with whom she swam. Truelove also had Guilford's second-fastest time of the year in the 100 backstroke (1:12.39), a feat accomplished at the Yellow Jacket Invitational in December.
Coach Steve Kaczmarek's team placed ninth among 12 teams at the Atlantic States/ODAC Championships, and shared fourth place in the conference dual-meet standings with a 2-4 record. The Quakers were 3-6 in nine overall dual meets. Guilford returns 17 letter winners for the 2006-07 season.
