Women's Swimming Releases (2004) Preseason Poll - Guilford College

GUILFORD PICKED SIXTH  IN ODAC WOMEN'S SWIMMING POLL

 

Salem, VA (10/15/04) -- Eleven-time defending league champion Washington and Lee earned three first-place votes to edge Randolph-Macon in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) preseason swimming poll which is voted on by the league's head coaches.

The Generals earned a total of 28 points in the poll and had a 7-4 overall record and a 3-1 league mark last season.  At the conference championship, W&L compiled 557 points to best second-place Randolph-Macon (520) by just 37 points. The Yellow Jackets were followed by Randolph-Macon Woman's College (336), Hollins (189) and Sweet Briar (180).

RMC earned two first-place votes and 27 points total to earn the second slot in the poll.  The Yellow Jackets finished last season at 8-3 overall, 4-0 in the conference and return ODAC Swimmer-of-the-Year Erin Ewalt and ODAC Rookie-of-the-Year Katie Duff.

Randolph-Macon Woman's College garnered 17 points for the third spot in the poll followed by Hollins (13 points), Sweet Briar (11points) and Guilford (5 points) who is in its first-year of varsity competition.
