Women's Swimming Releases (2004) Academic Honor - Guilford College
GUILFORD COLLEGE WOMEN'S SWIMMING TEAM EARNS ACADEMIC HONOR
Greensboro, NC (7/27/05) -- Guilford College's women's swimming team has been recognized by the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for its success in the classroom in the 2005 Spring semester. The Quakers, in their first season as a varsity sport, earned All-Academic Team status thanks to a cumulative 3.40 grade-point average (GPA). Guilford also garnered CSCAA honors for the 2004 fall semester, when it posted a 3.25 GPA.
Including all men's and women's swimming and diving teams in the NCAA and junior colleges, 272 squads representing 171 different institutions made the academic list. Guilford placed 22nd overall among Division III women's programs. Guilford was joined on the list by fellow Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) foe Washington and Lee, which tied for first on the list with a 3.59 GPA.
Coach Steve Kaczmarek's first-year Quakers logged a 2-5 overall record and placed sixth at the 2005 ODAC Championships. All 12 student-athletes are slated to return for the 2005-06 campaign.
