Lynchburg Explodes with Four Second-Half Goals to Down Quakers
LYNCHBURG, Va. (9/23/09) -- Ninth-ranked Lynchburg College scored four second-half
goals to take a 4-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference women's soccer
decision from visiting Guilford College Wednesday night. The Hornets
(4-1-2, 2-0 ODAC) scored all four goals in the last 15 minutes.
Katie Santos' header off a Laura Hammond cross broke the scoreless tie in
the 76th minute. Jessica Gonzalez added an insurance tally a little more
than a minute later. Kristen Melchiori added a goal and an assist in the
final 8:07 for Lynchburg. Anna Wright picked up the shutout with one save.
Kat Adams made nine saves for Guilford (2-6, 1-2 ODAC).
The Quakers are back in action Saturday (9/26) at Emory University.
