D'Orsaneo Wins Weekly Award

Greensboro, N.C. (9/15/08) -- Guilford College's Jackie D'Orsaneo won her first Guilford Student-Athlete of the Week Award Monday. The weekly prize is presented by Guilford's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Jackie D'OrsaneoD'Orsaneo, a sophomore forward in her first Guilford season, received the award after she scored a goal and tallied two assists in the Quakers' 4-0 shutout over Randolph-Macon College Saturday. Coach Eric Lewis' Quakers improve to 2-3 on the season after winning their Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opener against the Yellow Jackets. Guilford went 1-1 at the Emory Fall Tournament and 0-2 at the Lynchburg Labor Day Classic. The Quakers return home this Wednesday to face nonconference-rival Methodist University at 4:00 p.m.

Guilford's SAAC is comprised of representatives from each of the school's 16 varsity teams. The group meets regularly to discuss the state of Guilford Athletics and seeks to build community among student-athletes and non-student-athletes on the campus. Recent Guilford SAAC activities include a canned-food drive to benefit local charities and dodgeball competitions among representatives from Guilford's administration and athletic teams.
