Women's Soccer Defeats Emory, 2-1

Emily OttGreensboro, N.C. (9/9/06) -- Emily Ott scored her first goal of the season with 10:36 left in the match to lift the host Quakers past Emory Saturday afternoon in the Guilford Classic. Ott's goal gave the Quakers their second win in a row after suffering two losses to nationally ranked foes last weekend in Ohio. Jennah Carter assisted on Ott's goal and scored Guilford's first tally, her team-leading fourth of the season. Emory entered the match ranked fifth in the current NSCAA South Region Poll. Guilford's Veronica Zych made five saves in goal.

Lynchburg defeated Chowan, 3-1, in Saturday's other tournament match. The 19th-ranked Hornets play Emory Sunday at 1:00 in the tourney final.

The Quakers return to action Thursday (9/14) opening their Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) schedule against Hollins at 4:00 p.m.
