Guilford Scores 3-0 W. Soccer Win Over Chowan
Greensboro, N.C. (10/16/06) -- Guilford College senior Jennah Carter all three goals in the Quakers' 3-0 women's soccer victory over visiting Chowan Monday afternoon at Haworth Field. The Quakers improved to 10-5-1 with their second straight win, while the Hawks drop to 8-6-2.
Carter netted her first hat trick of the season and her seventh multiple-goal match of the season. She started the scoring with a first-half goal set up by Micki Boulineau, who collected an errant Chowan pass in the back and fed an open Carter. Carter took two steps and beat Chowan goalie Tiffany Lee from 10 yards out for a 1-0 Guilford led.
The Quakers controlled play for most of the game, but could not get many solid scoring opportunities. Guilford put a couple balls off the post and another off the crossbar, but Chowan stayed within a goal until Guilford's Amanda Sperr sprung Carter with a through ball served from midfield. Carter took the ball through a trapping defense, dribbled 25 yards and evaded Lee for her second goal of the match and a 2-0 Guilford lead with 7:38 remaining.

Carter collected her third goal just over two minutes later with a blast from 16 yards out after a nifty touch pass by Jacquelin White.
The Quakers outshot Chowan, 27-1, and held Hawks scoring leader Ashley Bradford without a shot. Bradford entered the game with 47 points on 20 goals and seven assists.
Guilford resumes Old Dominion Athletic Conference action Wednesday at Sweet Briar at 4:00 p.m.
