Guilford's Jennah Carter Wins Weekly Honors

Jennah CarterGreensboro, N.C. (9/13/06) -- Guilford College senior Jennah Carter won the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Player of the Week Award Tuesday. She also won Guilford's Student-Athlete of the Week prize, presented by the Quakers' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and was named to the D3kicks.com national Team of the Week. The D3kicks.com Team of the Week is selected from nominations submitted by Division III coaches and sports information directors from across the country.

Carter had a hand in four of Guilford's five goals in the Quakers' 2-0 week. She scored twice in the final 4:05, including the game-winner with five seconds left, to rally Guilford past Methodist, 3-2. Carter scored Guilford's first goal and assisted Emily Ott's game-winner with just over 10 minutes remaining in the Quakers' 2-1 upset of Emory, the South region's fifth-ranked team.

Carter has a team-leading nine points on four goals and one assist. She has 19 career assists, four shy of the school record, and ranks second in the conference with nine points. Her four goals shares the league lead.

Guilford's SAAC is comprised of representatives from each of the school's 16 varsity teams. The group meets regularly to discuss the state of Guilford Athletics and seeks to build community among student-athletes and non-student-athletes on the campus. Other recent Guilford SAAC activities include a canned-food drive to benefit local charities and dodgeball competitions among representatives from Guilford's administration and athletic teams.

Head coach Eric Lewis' Quakers have a 2-2 overall record entering Thursday's ODAC opener against visiting Hollins at 4:00 p.m.
