Guilford Women's Soccer Students Honored

Greensboro, N.C. (11/7/06) -- Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's soccer coaches selected Guilford College's Jennah Carter to its First Team All-ODAC squad, the league announced Tuesday. Guilford's Micki Boulineau and Caroline Hemeter earned second-team recognition while Jada Daniel and Erin Rothweiler were honorable mention selections.

Carter, Guilford's third two-time First Team All-ODAC pick, led the Quakers in scoring for the third straight season with 48 points on 21 goals and six assists. The senior forward won three ODAC Player of the Week Awards in 2006 and ranks third among the league's points per game leaders (2.18). Carter scored two hat tricks among her team-leading eight multiple-goal matches and led the team with four game-winning goals. She had 10 goals and two assists during a six-game stretch in September where she scored at least one goal in every match. Carter's 21 goals and 48 points rank fourth in school history.

A team captain, Carter concludes her career with 128 points in 66 matches, which ranks second only to Amy Evans '02 on the Quakers' career scoring chart. Carter set the school's career assists record (24) during a season-high seven-point performance in Guilford's win over Randolph-Macon Woman's College Oct. 21. She stands second to Evans with 52 career goals and set the school record with 23 tallies in 2005.

Boulineau led the Quakers with 11 assists, which leads the league and ranks second on Guilford's all-time list. She also scored a career-high seven goals and finished second to Carter with 25 points, also a personal best. Her 25 points stand seventh in the conference through matches of Nov. 4. Boulineau scored a career-high four points on a goal and two assists in the Quakers' win over Randolph-Macon Woman's College, one of her three contests with at least two helpers. She had a goal and an assist in Guilford's 5-0 ODAC triumph over visiting Sweet Briar Oct. 18. Boulineau moved into sixth place among the Quakers' career assists leaders with 15 in 66 matches.

A freshman defender, Hemeter anchored a Quakers' defense that set the school standard with 10 shutouts this year, the league's fourth-highest total. Guilford's defense saved its best for last, recording six straight shutouts (another school record) in its final seven matches. Hemeter started all 22 contests, took three shots and helped Guilford record its third-lowest goals against average (1.37) in school history.

Daniel, a rookie forward, ranked third on the team with 14 points on five goals and four assists in an injury-shortened 15-match campaign. She led Guilford's freshmen in scoring and enjoyed her best match with a two-goal, one-assist effort in a 3-0 win over league-rival Bridgewater Sept. 23. Daniel assisted Carter's game-winning goal in the Quakers' 2-1 league victory at Emory & Henry Sept. 26.

Rothweiler enjoyed her finest Guilford season with four goals and four assists for 12 points, which placed fourth on the squad. The junior midfielder scored eight points over the Quakers' final eight matches, including a season-high three-point showing in Guilford's ODAC Tournament quarterfinal win over Randolph-Macon Oct. 28. She also netted a goal (the game-winner) and an assist in the Quakers' 9-0 win over league-foe Hollins Sept. 14. In 42 Guilford contests, Rothweiler has 18 points on five goals and two assists.

Coach Eric Lewis' Quakers (13-6-3, 9-1-1 ODAC) reached the ODAC Tournament final for the second straight season before falling to 24th-ranked Virginia Wesleyan, 2-0, Nov. 4. Guilford posted a school-record 13 wins for the second year in a row and its nine league wins marked an all-time high. The Quakers hosted three ODAC Tournament matches for the first time in school history, thanks to its number-two seed, also a first. Lewis expects 15 letter winners back in 2007.
