WASHINGTON AND LEE DOWNS GUILFORD, 1-0, IN WOMEN'S SOCCER

Freshman Kate Corr's goal 2:57 into the second half gave visiting Washington and
Lee a 1-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference soccer win at Guilford Wednesday. The
win improves the Generals' overall record to 7-1-2 (6-0-1 ODAC) and snaps the
Quakers' (7-4-1, 3-3 ODAC) winning streak at four.
Washington and Lee, unbeaten in its last nine contests, is ranked ninth in this
week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas Division III South
Region poll.
Corr, who came off the bench, beat Guilford goalie Danielle Brisotti with
a shot from five yards out off a deflected corner kick. Gina Von Sternberg was
credited with an assist on the play at the 47:57 mark.
Washington and Lee goalie Kiki Moreo made two second-half saves and benefited from a strong defensive effort that limited the Quakers to seven shots, none by leading scorer Jennah Carter. Brisotti made two saves and faced 12 Generals' shots. Washington and Lee enjoyed a 14-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Quakers conclude a six-match home stand
Saturday (10/8) against league-rival Randolph-Macon at 3:00 p.m. Washington and
Lee visits Roanoke Saturday (10/8) at 1:00 p.m.
