"Women's Soccer Release (2005) - Guilford's Carter, Glover Earn All-ODAC Soccer Laurels" - Guilford College

CARTER, GLOVER EARN ALL-CONFERENCE WOMEN'S SOCCER HONORS

Greensboro, NC (11/9/05) -- Juniors Jennah Carter and Chelsea Glover earned All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) honors according to a vote of the league's 12 head coaches. Carter became Guilford's first first-team selection since 2002, while Glover was voted to the Second Team.

Carter, a forward, leads the ODAC in points (54) and goals (23) and ranks third in the conference with eight assists. She established Guilford's record for goals in a season and 54 points stand third in school history. Carter scored as career-high seven points in a game three times this season and tallied three goals in a contest three separate occasions. A two-time ODAC Player of the Week, she scored a league-high seven game-winning goals, including a second-half tally that lifted the visiting Quakers past fourth-ranked and previously unbeaten Virginia Wesleyan in the ODAC Tournament semifinals. In two seasons with the Quakers, Carter ranks third in school history in goals (31) and is fourth in points (80) and assists (18).

Glover, a midfielder, finished third on the team in points (13), and tallied a Guilford season-high three assists in a game versus Hollins (10/22). However, she was a much bigger influence controlling play in the midfield and dictating the pace of the game. Glover's ability to transition the ball to the forwards made her a valuable asset to the Quakers in 2005. This is the second straight season that Glover earned Second Team All-ODAC honors.

Carter and Glover helped the Quakers to a record-setting year. Fourth-year head coach Eric Lewis guided the team to a 13-6-3 record, 7-4 in the ODAC. The 13 wins broke the previous Guilford standard of 12, set in 2004. The Quakers advanced to the finals of the ODAC Tournament for the first time in the program's history, and expect 20 letter winners back in 2005.
