GUILFORD'S MUNDY NAMED ODAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Greensboro, NC (09/29/03) -- Guilford freshman Jennifer Mundy (Murrells Inlet, SC/Waccamaw) received the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's (ODAC) Women's Soccer Player of the Week Award for the week of September 22, the league announced Monday. Mundy becomes Guilford's first winner of the ODAC's weekly prize this season.

A 5-6 midfielder, Mundy scored six goals in the Quakers' three league wins last week. After not scoring a goal in the team's first seven matches, she erupted for four goals in Guilford's 6-0 home triumph over Emory & Henry September 22. The four goals marked the most scored by a Guilford player this season. She netted a natural hat trick in the match by scoring three times in the first 16:17 of the contest. Mundy also scored a second-half goal in Guilford's 7-1 win at Randolph-Macon Woman's College September 24 and had the Quakers' first goal in a 2-1 win over visiting Bridgewater September 27.

Mundy's scoring outburst vaulted her into second place on Guilford's scoring list with 14 points on six goals and two assists. She has the most points among Guilford's 14 first-year field players.

Coach Eric Lewis' Quakers (6-6, 3-2 ODAC) head into weekend ODAC matches with Randolph-Macon and Sweet Briar in sixth place in the 12-team league. Guilford has won five of its last eight matches.
