Women's Soccer Release - Hutton Named ODAC Player of the Week - Guilford College

HUTTON RECEIVES ODAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS

Greensboro, NC (09/30/02) -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) selected Guilford College senior Alex Hutton (Collierville, TN/Hutchison School (Mississippi State)) as its Women's Soccer Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.  Hutton is Guilford's second straight ODAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week.  Sophomore Kimberly Mullen (Massapequa Park, NY/Massapequa (Nassau C.C.)) captured last week's prize.

Hutton, a 5-5 senior forward, scored 10 goals and three assists in Guilford's 3-1 week. She netted a school- and league-record seven goals and 15 points (7g, 1a) in the Quakers' 12-2 win at Ferrum September 25. The seven goals rank second in NCAA women's soccer history (all divisions) and her 15 points stand third in Division III history. Hutton also had a hand in Guilford's Division III record for quickest consecutive goals when she and Mullen scored four seconds apart in the Ferrum win. Hutton opened the week with three goals and an assist for her first college hat trick in Guilford's 12-0 ODAC win over Sweet Briar September 23. She also had an assist September 26 in the Quakers' 4-0 shutout of Emory & Henry.

Hutton stands second to Mullen on Guilford's scoring list with a career-high 27 points on 11 goals and five assists. She starts the week fourth in the league in points (2.45) and goals (1.0) per game.

After a four-match week last week, Coach Eric Lewis' Quakers (6-4-1, 3-2 ODAC) have some time off before Saturday's (10/5) ODAC match at Washington and Lee.
