Women's Soccer Release - Brisotti Named ODAC Player of the Week - Guilford College
BRISOTTI RECEIVES ODAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS
Greensboro, NC (10/28/02) -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) selected Guilford freshman Danielle Brisotti (Island Park, NY/West Hempstead) as its Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of October 21 Monday. Brisotti joins sophomore Kimberly Mullen (Massapequa Park, NY/Massapequa (Nassau C.C.)) and senior Alex Hutton (Collierville, TN/Hutchison School (Mississippi State)) as Guilford's recipients of the weekly honor this season.
A
5-6 goaltender, Brisotti recorded consecutive shutouts and made 18 saves
in the Quakers' 2-1 week. She made three stops in Guilford's 3-0 win over Peace
October 23 and had a seven-save effort in the Quakers' 2-0 ODAC triumph at
Bridgewater October 26. The Bridgewater blanking marked Brisotti's seventh
shutout of the season, which ties the school record set by Jen Harrison '91 in
1989. Brisotti also made eight saves in a 3-1 loss at Greensboro October
21.
Brisotti has started all 19 Guilford matches in goal and opened the week with a 1.96 goals against average and .748 saves percentage. She stands third in the league in shutouts per game and ranks fourth in the ODAC with 107 saves. Brisotti set a school record with four consecutive shutouts in September and has three games with 10 or more saves. She made a career-high 16 saves in Guilford's 2-2 tie with regionally ranked Virginia Wesleyan October 19.
Coach Eric Lewis' Quakers (9-8-2, 4-5-1 ODAC) carried a two-match winning streak into Monday's scheduled league contest at Eastern Mennonite. Guilford is in contention for its 12th straight ODAC Tournament appearance. The pairings for the eight-team tourney will be announced later this week.
