Women's Soccer Coaching Staff
Now in his fifth season on Guilford's sidelines, Eric Lewis already owns the school record for women's soccer coaching wins and is bidding to take the Quakers to their first women's soccer conference title. He owns a 45-33-7 record in four seasons at Guilford, which combined with two successful campaigns at Louisburg Junior College, give him an 84-38-8 mark in six years as a head coach.
The Quakers set the school record for wins in a season for the second year in a row under Lewis in 2005. Guilford reached the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament finals for the first time in school history in 2005 thanks to an upset of previously unbeaten Virginia Wesleyan in the tourney semifinals. In 2004, Lewis guided Guilford to school standards for ODAC wins (7) and longest unbeaten streak (13) in 2004.
The Quakers’ eighth women’s soccer coach, Lewis has coached two all-region student-athletes, six all- state performers, and eight All-ODAC selections at Guilford.
Lewis took over as Guilford's women's soccer coach in 2002, returning to Greensboro from Louisburg. Louisburg compiled a 39-5-1 record in 2001 and 2002 under Lewis, which helped him earn a pair of Region X Coach of the Year Awards. The 2001 unit reached the National Junior College Athletic Association District D finals and was ranked 12th in the final national junior college poll.
A native of Chapel Hill, NC, Lewis works extensively as an administrator with the North Carolina Girls Soccer Camp during the summer. Lewis coached the girls’ varsity soccer team at Northern Durham High School in 2000 and was at East Chapel Hill High School the previous season. He assisted the state champion girls’ team at Southwest Guilford in 1997 and has made scholastic coaching stops at Northwest Guilford, McMichael and Jordan. Lewis assisted Guilford's men's soccer team in 1998.
Lewis received a bachelor’s degree in sport management from UNC Greensboro in 1996 and completed requirements for a bachelor’s degree in history from High Point in 1998.
