Women's Soccer Coaching Staff

Eric Lewis starts his eighth season as the Quakers' head women's soccer coach. With an overall record of 73-63-10, he holds the school record for women's soccer coaching victories, winning percentage (.534) and years coached. When combined with two successful seasons on Louisburg College's sidelines, he owns a 112-68-11 career coaching record in nine seasons.
The Quakers have played in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament final in two of the past four seasons, during which time Guilford has averaged 10 wins per season. In 2007, the Quakers match the school record with 13 wins for the second year in a row and made their second consecutive appearance in the ODAC Tournament final. Guilford hosted three ODAC Tournament matches for the first time in school history, thanks to its number-two seed, also a first. Lewis also guided the crimson and gray to a school-record nine ODAC wins.
The Quakers’ eighth women’s soccer coach, Lewis has coached an All-American, three all-region student-athletes, six all-state performers and 14 All-ODAC selections at Guilford.
Lewis came to Guilford in 2002, returning to Greensboro from Louisburg. Louisburg went 39-5-1 in 2001 and 2002 under Lewis, which helped him earn two Region X Coach of the Year Awards. The 2001 team reached the National Junior College Athletic Association District D finals and was ranked 12th in the final national junior college poll.
A Chapel Hill, N.C., native, Lewis works with the Jamestown (N.C.) Soccer Club and the North Carolina Girls' Soccer Camp. Lewis coached the girls’ varsity soccer team at Northern Durham High School in 2000 and was at East Chapel Hill High School the previous season. He assisted the state champion girls’ team at Southwest Guilford in 1997 and has made scholastic coaching stops at Northwest Guilford, McMichael and Jordan. Lewis assisted Guilford's men's soccer team in 1998.
Lewis received a bachelor’s degree in sport management from UNC Greensboro in 1996 and completed requirements for a bachelor’s degree in history from High Point University in 1998.
Emily Johnson joined Guilford's athletic staff in 2004 and works with the Quakers' goalkeepers. In her first year, the Quakers' goalies combined for a school record 1.16 goals-against average. In 2005, the pair combined for a school-record nine shutouts and a year later Veronica Zych '06 notched a school-record nine shutouts.
Johnson earned Second Team All-America honors in 1993 as a goaltender for Ithaca College and played on the Bombers' 1991 national champions. She earned Second Team Academic All-District I honors in 1994 and 1995 and ranks second among Ithaca's career goals against average leaders (0.43). The Shutesbury, Mass., native received her bachelor's degree in physical education teaching from Ithaca in 1995.
Johnson assisted the women's soccer team and taught in Cortland's physical education department from 1995-98. She spent a year as an assistant women's soccer coach at Bentley College before serving as the head women's soccer coach at Ferrum College from 2000-02. Johnson worked two years as an assistant women's soccer coach and goalkeeper trainer at Greensboro College.
Alan Foy joined the Quakers' staff as a volunteer assistant in 2008. The Executive Director of the Jamestown (N.C.) Soccer Club, he is oversees the management and operation of the youth program.
Prior to taking the Jamestown position, Foy spent four years as the Director of Operations for the Weston Fury Soccer Club in Florida where he created operational plans, managed staff and coached girls' and boys' teams in the under-15 divisions. Foy also worked as the regional director and staff coach for Major League Soccer Camps, Inc. in Mystic, Conn., where he conducted coaching clinics and coached players from 4-18 years old. He has also served as the head coach for the Ampthill Town F.C., an English semiprofessional team, and the Dunstable Town Ladies in Dunstable, England. Foy played in semiprofessionally for 11 years before moving into coaching.
