Box Score

WASHINGTON, D.C. (3/9/09) -- The Catholic University women's lacrosse team earned a convincing 16-0 victory over Guilford College at Cardinal Stadium Tuesday afternoon. With the win, CUA improves to 2-2 on the year, while Guilford College drops to 2-4.

Leading the way for the Cardinals was Kate Robinson with six goals, two assists, two ground balls, and two draw controls. Laura Haring (Mt. Sinai, N.Y./Mt. Sinai) was another solid force on the offensive end, recording four goals, one assist, and two groundballs. Mary Swarthout , Kelly Ryan , Kate Narzikul, Lindsay Bitonti, Madison Nunes and Lauren Sheils each tallied goal apiece. Swarthout also contributed four assists and five draw controls on the night.

The Cards wasted no time in showing their dominance on both the offensive and defensive ends. CUA recorded an astonishing 13 goals in the opening twenty minutes, and allowed the Quakers only one shot on goal. Robinson and Haring scored six and four goals in the first half, respectively.

Guilford was able to gain more offensive momentum in the second half, but the stifling defensive pressure of the Cardinals held the Quakers scoreless, only the second shut out in program history.

CUA returns to action on Thursday, March 12 for a non-conference match up against McDaniel College at 4 p.m.
