Women's Lacrosse (2005) - Veach - Hired as Assistant Coach - Guilford College

  • VEACH ADDED TO GUILFORD WOMEN'S LACROSSE COACHING STAFF

Greensboro, NC (2/28/05) -- Cayla Veach joined Guilford College's athletics department staff Wednesday as an assistant women's lacrosse coach. The Kernersville, NC, resident will assist Quakers' head coach Matthew Grosso in his first season at the helm of Guilford's women's lacrosse team.

The position marks Veach's second coaching job after a single year as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Gannon University.  The Knights finished the season 9-5 in 2004 with Veach as the defensive coordinator and goalie coach.

Veach started all 48 games of her three-year Gannon career, and compiled five varsity letters in soccer and lacrosse.  In 2002 she earned Second Team IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-America honors on defense.  She helped the Knights to an appearance in the 2001 Division II Lacrosse Final Four and a 31-17 overall record during her career.  A soccer injury in 2003 kept her from playing as a senior.  Veach graduated from Gannon in December 2004 with a degree in Elementary Education.

Veach played four years of lacrosse for Coach Kris Cofield at Glastonbury (CT) High School.  She earned all-conference and all-state recognition in 1999 and 2000.  She also lettered four years as a point guard in basketball and three years in soccer as a goalkeeper.

The Quakers are 2-0 for the first time since 1997.  Guilford opens Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play Wednesday (3/2) at Sweet Briar.
