  • CLODFELTER SCORES FOUR IN GUILFORD'S LACROSSE WIN AT LEES-McRAE

 

Banner Elk, NC (3/30/05) -- Freshman Jordan Clodfelter scored a career-high four goals to lead Guilford's women's lacrosse team to a 13-6 victory over NCAA Division II Lees-McRae Wednesday night. The Quakers (4-3) matched their win total of 2004 with the victory, which spoiled the Bobcats' (1-8) home opener.

Despite arriving 30 minutes before the start of the match, Guilford jumped out to a 5-1 lead and led 7-3 at halftime. The Quakers' edge grew to 9-3 before Lees-McRae scored its first of two second-half goals.

      Clodfelter was one of six different Guilford goal scorers on the night. Rookie Mary Hutchins contributed three goals. Junior captain Moira Foley netted two goals and added an assist. Freshman Devorah Litt made 11 saves in goal.

      Sophomore Stephanie Jaworski paced the Bobcats with four goals. Stephanie Gallant added three assists. Anita Hekman made nine saves in goal.

      Guilford returns to action Saturday (4/2) at Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rival Virginia Wesleyan. Lees-McRae hosts Averett Thursday (3/31) at 4:00 p.m.
