TWO GUILFORD COLLEGE WOMEN'S LACROSSE PLAYERS HONORED
Greensboro, NC (4/28/05) -- Guilford College's Jordan Clodfelter and Emily Mayer earned honorable mention All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's lacrosse recognition Thursday, according to a vote of the league's head coaches.
Clodfelter,
a freshman midfielder, ranked second on the team with 30 points on 24 goals and
six assists. She also contributed 22 ground balls and 17 draw controls in 12
contests. Clodfelter's game-high six points (3 goals, 3 assists) in the
Quakers' win over Hollins marked a Guilford season high for points in a match.
She tallied two or more goals in seven tilts, including a match- and career-best
five tallies in a 13-9 setback to Roanoke. Clodfelter led Guilford's
scorers seven times and scored once in 11 of 12 contests. She tallied 16 goals
and four assists in eight ODAC matches.
Mayer, a sophomore defender, did not score in 13 matches, but led the
club with 18 caused turnovers. Her career-high 49 ground balls in 13 matches
shared the team lead with Billie Pellerito. Mayer's 3.77 ground
balls per match rank eighth in school history. She made a career-high eight
pickups in the Quakers' season-opening win over Greensboro and caused a
career-high four turnovers versus Lynchburg.
The pair helped first-year head coach Matthew Grosso's squad to a 5-9 overall record (2-6 ODAC), which represents a one-win improvement over 2004. The Quakers lose no seniors to graduation from this year's club and look forward to returning 14 letter winners next spring.
