Women's Lacrosse Release (2004) - Tara Resigns - Guilford College
CAMINITI-RAGGETT RESIGNS AS WOMEN'S LACROSSE COACHGreensboro, NC (04/07/04) -- Guilford Athletic Director Marion Kirby announced the resignation of Tara Caminiti-Raggett as the Quakers' head women's lacrosse coach Tuesday. Caminiti-Raggett, whose final day at Guilford will be May 31,2004, is leaving to pursue different professional opportunities and to spend more time with her family.
Guilford compiled a 12-48 record in Caminiti-Raggett's four seasons, including a 4-9 record in 2004. The Quakers went 6-26 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) and reached the eight-team ODAC Tournament in three of her four years. Two Guilford players earned Second Team All-ODAC honors and five Quakers were honorable mention all-league picks under Caminiti-Raggett's tutelage. Guilford went 5-12 in 2003, the school's best women's lacrosse campaign since 1998.
Caminiti-Raggett became Guilford's eighth women's lacrosse coach in 2000. Her four-year coaching tenure matches the second-longest in school history and her 12 coaching wins stand fourth on Guilford's all-time coaching list. She joined the Quakers' staff in 2000 after spending four years as a coach and physical education teacher in the Orange County School District. She is a 1991 graduate of Stony Brook.
A national search for Caminiti-Raggett's successor is underway. Kirby, who is chairing the search committee, hopes to announce the new head women's lacrosse coach in June.
