GUILFORD PAIR EARNS HONORABLE MENTION ALL-ODAC LAURELS

Greensboro, NC (04/30/04) -- Senior Lauren Goodwin (Newburyport, MA/Newburyport) and freshman Caryn Stone (North Potomac, MD/Thomas Sprigg Wootton) were honorable mention selections to the 2004 All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's lacrosse team, the league announced Friday. This marks the third consecutive year that two Guilford players have been honored on the league's all-star teams.

Goodwin, a 5-0 attacker, was one of three players to start all 13 games for the Quakers. She led the team in ground balls (42), was ranked fifth in goals (10) and tied for third in assists (4). Goodwin achieved season-highs of two goals and two assists in a win over Hollins, the final home game of her career.

Goodwin has played many roles for the Quakers during her career. She began her career as a goalie, accumulating the school's ninth-highest saves total in 2001 before moving to defense her second year. She moved to attack for her junior season, where she remained this year. Amidst the changes, Goodwin was very consistent, starting 58 of Guilford's 59 games during her career. She leaves with 25 goals and 16 assists in her career.

Stone, a 5-5 midfielder, appeared in 13 games for the Quakers, starting the final 11. She ranked fourth on the team in goals (11) and third in ground balls (33) and caused turnovers (14). She tied for third on the team with Goodwin in assists and draw controls (11). Stone had her best game of the season against Hollins, when she led the team with five goals, seven ground balls and five caused turnovers in the victory.

Coach Tara Caminiti-Raggett's Quakers finished the season with a 4-9 record, 2-6 in the ODAC. The team's season ended with a loss to Virginia Wesleyan in the quarterfinals of the ODAC Tournament. Seven letter winners, including Stone, are expected to return next season.
