Women's Basketball Tabbed Seventh in ODAC Coaches' Poll

Greensboro, N.C. -- Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball coaches picked Guilford College seventh in the league's annual preseason poll Thursday. League officials released the 2009-10 poll at the annual media day at the Salem (Va.) Civic Center. The Quakers received 53 points in the 11-team ranking.

Top-ranked Roanoke College earned 120 points and 10 first-place votes, on the strength of two returning all-conference players and three NCAA Division I transfers. Defending league champion Randolph-Macon College received the remaining first-place vote and was picked second.

Ann SeuferThe Quakers return to action this season with many familiar faces in hopes of improving on last year's fifth-place tie in the league. Seventh-year head coach Stephanie Flamini returns eight letter winners two starters from last year's 11-15 squad that posted a 10-10 league record. Senior Ann Seufer returns after setting Guilford's career and single-season records for three-point field goals. She also ranked second on the team in scoring (10.2) and steals (38) and led the team in free-throw percentage (.865). Classmates Joclyn Terry, Alexa Williams and Jasmine Wood give Guilford a solid and experienced core.

Along with regular ODAC action, the Quakers schedule features a wide array of nonconference competition. Guilford opens the season Nov. 18 with its annual matchup with crosstown-rival Greensboro College in the Greensboro Coliseum. The Quakers head to the Jim Crawley Tournament hosted by Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Md., Nov. 20-21. The schedule includes 11 home dates and 20 ODAC match-ups. The league's top-eight teams advance to the ODAC Championship Tournament Feb. 25-28 in the Salem (Va.) Civic Center.
