      Greensboro, NC (2/15/06) -- Senior Jennifer King hit six-straight free throws in the final minute of the game to extend the Quakers one-point lead and seal the victory for Guilford. King recorded her fourth double-double of the year notching 26 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. She was joined by Freshman Kristine Ellis who scored 10 points and grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds.

 

The Generals (11-13, 8-11 ODAC) jumped out to a quick 6-0 and led by as many as nine points in the first half behind the efforts of Kristen Krouchick's 17 points, Louisa Feve's 16 points, and Jessica Hunsinger's 15 points. The Quakers tied the game at 22-22 with 2:30 left in the half on a three-pointer by King before Louisa Feve answered with a three-pointer of her own with :14 seconds remaining in the first half.

 

The second half saw Washington and Lee build a 10-point lead six minutes into the second half before Guilford's (10-14, 9-10 ODAC) Brittany Bumgarner's 3-pointer ignited a 26-7 run during a nine-minute stretch to overcome the deficit. The Quakers took the lead for good on a pair of free throw by Heather Koehler with seven minutes remaining.

 

Guilford built a nine-point lead with just over five minutes remaining only to see it cut to a single point on two occasions in the final two minutes, the last one with :57 seconds remaining on a lay-up by Feve. The Generals could come no closer the rest of the game as the Quakers converted on eight-for-eight from the free throw line in the final minute.

 

      Guilford hosts Lynchburg Saturday (2/18) in its final game at 2:00 p.m. Washington and Lee closes its regular season Saturday visiting Emory & Henry.
