"Women's Basketball Release (2005-06) - Women's Hoops Drops Game to W&L, 73-53" - Guilford College

 

      LEXINGTON, VA (12/8/05) -- Junior center Jessica Hunsinger recorded 23 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks to lead  Washington and Lee to a 73-53 victory over Guilford in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball action on Thursday evening at the Warner Center.

      Guilford (2-5, 1-1) led 18-17 with 7:38 left in the first half, but the Generals (3-5, 2-3) went on a 18-6 run over the next 6:26 to take a 35-24 lead. Washington and Lee headed into halftime with a 37-29 edge.

 

      The Generals opened the second half on a 20-4 spurt to take a 57-33 lead with 11:52 remaining and pushed their advantage to as many as 26 points on three different occasions en route to the 20-point win.

      Washington and Lee shot 45.8 percent (27-59) from the field, while the Quakers shot just 21.7 percent (18-83) for the game. The Generals also held a 58-41 edge in rebounding.

      Hunsinger was aided by sophomore forward Kristen Krouchick's 14 points and four rebounds. Senior guard Louisa Feve chipped in with 11 points and a career-high eight assists.

      Guilford was led by senior guard Jennifer King's 14 points and seven rebounds. Freshman forward Kristine Ellis added nine points and six boards, while freshman forward Heather Koehler tallied six points.

      Guilford returns to Saturday (12/10) for its final home game before the semester break as it hosts ODAC-rival Emory & Henry. 
The game begins at 4:00 p.m.  Washington and Lee has off for exams and the holiday break before returning to the court on Tue., Jan. 3 at Virginia Wesleyan.
