GUILFORD WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM PICKED EIGHTH IN ODAC POLL
Salem, VA (11/10/05) -- Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball coaches picked Guilford eighth in their preseason poll, the league announced Thursday at its annual Media Day at the Salem Civic Center. Randolph-Macon, the defending conference champion and last year's national runner-up, tops the poll for the third straight season with all 11 first-place votes.
Third-year head coach Stephanie Flamini welcomes back four letter
winners, including two starters, from last year's 11-15 squad that finished
seventh in the ODAC. Senior guard Jennifer King (right) earned Second
Team All-ODAC honors last season, finishing among the league leaders in points
per game (3rd-15.0), assists per game (10th-3.23), free-throw percentage
(7th-.757) and three-point field goals per game (2nd-2.12). Her backcourt mate,
junior point guard Dionne Graham, also returns for the Quakers. Graham
last year ranked third in the conference in assists (3.96) and steals (2.50) per
game.
The Quakers play their season-opener November 20 at Elon. Guilford's first home
game is December 6 versus ODAC opponent Hollins.
