Women's Basketball Release (2005-06) - King Chosen For National Coaching Workshop - Guilford College

  • GUILFORD'S KING CHOSEN FOR NATIONAL COACHING WORKSHOP

Greensboro, NC (2/2/06) -- Guilford senior Jennifer King has been selected to participate in the 2006 Nike's So You Want To Be A Coach Workshop March 31-April 2 during the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) National Convention in Boston. King also received one of 50 $500 scholarships for use toward travel and lodging.

The program's goal is to increase the number of minority female basketball student-athletes with coaching aspirations. Potential candidates must have exhausted their final year of basketball eligibility at a four-year institution or have graduated within the past year. The candidate's head coach makes the nomination and must be an active WBCA member.

King, a 5-8 guard, is the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's (ODAC) second-leading scorer (22.5 ppg) and ranks fifth in steals (2.50 spg). A captain and four-year starter, she is Guilford's all-time leader in career three-point field goals (153) and ranks fourth in career points (1,434). King also stands among the Quakers' career leaders in free throws, assists, steals and field goals.

Coach Stephanie Flamini's Quakers (8-11, 7-7 ODAC) have won five of their last six games and return to action Saturday (2/4) at Bridgewater. Guilford's next home game is Feb. 11 versus Roanoke at 4:00 p.m. in the Ragan-Brown Field House.
