  • GUILFORD'S ROBERTSON WINS WEEKLY ODAC PRIZE

Greensboro, NC (02/16/04) -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) awarded its Women's Basketball Player of the Week Award to Guilford senior A.J. Robertson (Eden, NC/Morehead) Monday afternoon. Robertson received the honor for the first time in her career and becomes Guilford's first player honored with the prize this season.

Robertson led the Quakers to back-to-back wins over the ODAC's first-place teams in less than 24 hours last weekend. She scored all 13 of her points in the second half of Guilford's 69-61 triumph over Eastern Mennonite February 13. With Eastern Mennonite's loss, Bridgewater moved into the ODAC's top spot headed into its February 14 contest at Guilford. Robertson made a career-high six-of-eight three-pointers en route to a season-high 24 points as the Quakers upended the Eagles, 71-51. For the week, the 5-10 guard averaged 18.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. She made nine-of-17 (.529) three- pointers and broke the school records for trifectas in a season (46) and career (112).

Robertson's play raised her scoring average to a team-leading 11.4 points per game, which ranks 18th in the conference. She stands second in the league with 2.19 three-pointers per game and fourth in three-point field-goal percentage (.390). Robertson averages 2.7 rebounds, 1.14 assists and 1.10 steals per game through 21 games. She has 14 contests with 10 or more points and has led the Quakers' scorers five times.

Coach Stephanie Flamini's Quakers (14-8, 12-6 ODAC) have won four of their last five games headed into Tuesday's (2/17) regular-season home finale against Emory & Henry at 7:00 pm. Guilford has secured the fourth seed for the ODAC Tournament, which begins February 26 at the Salem (VA) Civic Center. The Quakers have won two of the last three ODAC Tournament titles.
