Women's Basketball Release - 2003-04 ODAC poll - Guilford College

  • GUILFORD WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM PICKED SECOND IN ODAC POLL

Salem, VA (11/13/03) -- Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball coaches picked Guilford second in their preseason poll, the league announced Thursday at its annual media day at the Salem Civic Center. The Quakers received three first-place votes and finished second to defending ODAC Tournament champion Randolph-Macon in the 11-team poll.

First-year head coach Stephanie Flamini inherited 13 letter winners, including four starters, from last season's 20-7 unit that reached the ODAC Tournament semifinals. Guilford has enjoyed three straight 20-win seasons and has captured league titles and NCAA playoff bids in two of the past three years. Senior guard A.J. Robertson (Eden, NC/Morehead) earned Second Team All-ODAC honors last year after leading the Quakers in scoring with a career-best 13.1 points per game average. Junior forward Courtney Hill (Kannapolis, NC/North Rowan) joined Robertson on the second-team squad and averaged 12.8 and 6.5 rebounds per game. Sophomore guard Jennifer King (Reidsville, NC/Rockingham County) averaged 12.8 points per contest and received honorable mention all-conference honors.

Guilford opens the season November 21 against Ohio Wesleyan in an eight-team tournament hosted by Marymount (VA). The Quakers' first home game is December 5 against ODAC-rival Randolph-Macon Woman's College.
