Quakers Down Sweet Briar, 3-0
GREENSBORO, N.C. (9/30/09) -- Emma Gunn had eight kills on .438 hitting to help
Guilford College top visiting Sweet Briar College, 25-21, 25-13,
25-17, in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference volleyball match
Wednesday night.
The Quakers (6-8, 1-3 ODAC) snapped a five-game losing skid with their
first league win of the season. The Vixens fall to 2-12 (0-3 ODAC)
with the loss.
Brittany Freeman led Guilford with nine kills and also served up a
match-best four aces. Sophomore Taylor Phillips totalled 29 assists
and put away five kills of her own on six attempts with no errors.
Mary Moody contributed eight kills and six digs.
Senior Bethany Hawks had 14 digs for Guilford.
Cassidy Jones hit .455 and notched a match-best 10 kills for Sweet
Briar. Hope Troxler had 18 assists and 12 digs,
both team highs, playing before her hometown fans.
The Quakers are back in action Thursday (10/1) at Peace College.
