Guilford Finishes 2-2 at Greensboro College Tournament
GREENSBORO, N.C. (9/12/09) -- Guilford College dropped two matches in the final day of the Greensboro College Volleyball Tournament Saturday in Hanes Gym.
Tournament champion Piedmont College opened the day with a 25-12, 25-17,
25-21 victory behind 26 assists by setter Tyler Baldonado, the tournament
MVP. Kalin DeMarrais paced the Lions (6-3) with eight kills on .300
hitting. Anna Miller led the Quakers with eight kills. Taylor Phillips
added 17 assists and eight digs.
Guilford (5-5) wrapped up play with a 25-17, 25-19, 25-14 nonleague setback
to Old Dominion Athletic Conference-rival Randolph-Macon College. Mallory
Carter's 11 kills on .300 paced the Yellow Jackets (9-1), which hit .263 as
a team. Courtney Kozar's seven kills paced Guilford.
Phillips represented Guilford on the all=tournament team.
Guilford is back in action Wednesday (9/16) at Roanoke College in the
Quakers' ODAC opener.
