Volleyball Finishes Weekend 1-3 at Averett Classic

DANVILLE, Va. (9-8-09) -- Guilford College dropped two matches in Sunday's final day
of the Averett University Classic. The Quakers fell to unbeaten Maryville
(Tenn.) College, 3-1, and dropped a 3-0 decision to host Averett.
Brittany Freeman paced the Quakers with a career-high 15 kills and Emma
Gunn added four blocks in the loss to Maryville. Taylor Phillips added 27
assists and Kate Dailey added 16 helpers.
In the second match, Freeman led the way with seven kills in the 3-0
setback to Averett. Courtney Kozar added six kills on .462 hitting and two
blocks.
On day one Guilford posted its first win over Greensboro since 1997. The Quakers are back in action Wednesday (9/9) at Meredith College at 7:00
p.m.
