Guilford's Miller Named Honorable Mention All-ODAC
Greensboro, N.C. (11/12/08) -- For the second straight season, Guilford College sophomore Anna Miller received honorable mention All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) volleyball recognition Monday. Selections were made by the league's head coaches.
Miller, an outside hitter, played in all of the Quakers' 30 matches and led the team in kills (269), service aces (44) and points (329). She also finished second on the team in digs (258) and digs per game (2.35). One of her best games came against Peace College Oct. 9 when she had 22 kills, 17 digs and four blocks. She hit a career- and team-season high .517 in the Quakers' Aug. 30 match with the Catholic University of America. Miller led Guilford with 10 or more kills on 11 occasions and had 10 or more digs 12 times. She led the team in kills 19 times and in digs seven times.
Third-year head coach Emily Hayes' Quakers finished the season with a 7-23 record, 2-8 in the ODAC. Guilford finished in a four-way tie for fifth place at the eight-team ODAC Tournament, losing in the quarterfinals to top-seeded Washington and Lee University. Hayes expects as many as 11 student-athletes back in the fall of 2009.
