Peace Defeats Guilford Volleyball, 3-0
Raleigh, N.C. (10/13/06) -- Shamica Phillips putaway a game-high 11 kills on 73.3% hitting to lead host Peace to a 30-14, 30-15, 30-27 nonconference victory over visiting Guilford Friday night. The Pacers evened their record at 12-12, while the Quakers drop to 2-19.
Phillips killed all three attempts and Peace took advantage of 11 Quakers' hitting errors in the opening game. She had five kills on six attempts in the second game and Kelsey Midgett added four kills in the second game. The Pride broke open a 9-7 game with a 9-3 run in the third set. Trailing 28-18, Guilford rallied to within 29-27 thanks in part to three of Katie Spina's team-high seven kills. The Pacers clinched the win on a Guilford service error.
Spina added three blocks to her team-high kill total. Taylor Brown chipped in 12 digs and Jessica Smith added 11 pickups. Becca Jones had 16 assists.
The Quakers return to action Oct. 19 against visiting Lynchburg at 6:30 p.m.
