VOLLEYBALL'S LEATHERN RECEIVES ALL-ODAC HONORS
Greensboro, NC (11/4/05) -- Guilford freshman Brittani Leathern
received honorable mention All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC)
recognition Friday, according to a vote of the league's head coaches.
Leathern, a 5-11 middle hitter, led the Quakers this season in kills (282), blocks (38) and points (330.5). She ranked second in hitting percentage (.255) and was third in service aces (20). Leathern also stood second in the ODAC in kills (3.86) and points (4.53) per game headed into this weekend's ODAC Tournament. She led the Quakers in kills 17 times this season and finished with 10 or more kills on 12 occasions.
Coach Glenda Dellinger's squad finished the season with an 8-18 record (3-7 in the ODAC). The eighth-seeded Quakers' season ended Friday in the quarterfinals of the ODAC Championship Tournament with a three-set loss to top seed and four-time defending champion Washington and Lee, 30-9, 30-11, 30-14. Leathern led Guilford with eight kills in the match. The tournament's semifinals and final will be held Saturday (11/5) at Emory & Henry. Dellinger expects all 12 of this season's letter winners, including Leathern, to return next season.
