Volleyball Release (2004) - Preseason Poll - Guilford College

  • GUILFORD VOLLEYBALL TEAM TABBED NINTH IN ODAC POLL

Greensboro, NC (8/24/04) -- Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) volleyball coaches picked Guilford ninth in their 2004 preseason poll Tuesday. Three-time defending league champion Washington and Lee received 10 of 12 first-place votes and the top spot in the 12-team poll.

The prognostication matches Guilford's ODAC finish of a year ago after a 6-23 overall record (3-8 ODAC). Head coach Glenda Dellinger starts her second season on the Quakers' sidelines with five returning letter winners, including seniors Kendra Harvey (Lynchburg, VA/Heritage), Mackenzie Parsio (Galena, OH/Big Walnut) and Rhonda Rogers (Liberty, NC/Southern Alamance). Guilford will miss the services of three seniors from last year's club, including A.J. Robertson '04, the Quakers' Best Offensive Player and the ODAC's 2003 Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Guilford scrimmages Division II Winston-Salem State this Monday night (Aug. 30) in the Quakers' Ragan-Brown Field House at 6:00 pm. The season officially opens September 3-4 in a tournament hosted by Maryville (TN). Guilford welcomes Peace September 21 in its home opener.
