NEMENZ ADDED TO GUILFORD SOFTBALL COACHING STAFF
Greensboro, NC (1/19/05) -- Lindsay Nemenz joined Guilford College's athletics department staff Wednesday as an assistant softball coach. The Kernersville, NC, resident will assist Quakers' head coach Ty Cook in her second season at the helm of Guilford's three-year-old fast-pitch softball team.
The position marks Nemenz's first coaching job after a playing career at Glenn High School and Louisburg College. A 2001 Glenn graduate, Nemenz compiled 10 varsity letters in three sports (volleyball, basketball, softball) and earned All-Piedmont Triad 3-A Conference honors in basketball (2001) and softball (2000, 2001). She helped the Bobcats' softball team to a pair of state playoff appearances and a 33-19 overall record in her final two seasons.
Nemenz played two years for Coach Sheila Cotten at Louisburg College in 2002 and 2003 during which time the Hurricanes compiled a 57-16 record. Nemenz hit .380 with 12 runs batted in (RBI) and played outfield in her first season. Louisburg went 31-7 and was ranked eighth in the final 2002 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I Softball Poll. The Hurricanes went 26-9 in 2003 with Nemenz playing second base and batting .345.
The Quakers return 10 players from last season's 9-27 club (4-12 Old Dominion Athletic Conference). Guilford opens the 2005 season Feb. 19 at Peace at 1:00 p.m.
