Bante Named SAAC Student-Athlete of the Week
Greensboro, N.C. (10/4/07) -- Guilford College senior Jeremy Bante won the school's Student-Athlete of the Week Award presented by the school's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). This is his first time in receiving this weekly award.
Bante ran the sixth-fastest eight-kilometer time (28:48) in Guilford history this past weekend in the Greensboro Invitational at Hagan-Stone Park. He lowered his personal record by 31 seconds and helped the Quakers place first among four other Division III teams. Bante finished 30th among 151 runners in the university meet.
Second-year head coach Jamie LaFollette's Quakers compete in the Hagan-Stone Cross Country Classic at Hagan Stone Park Saturday (10/6) at 10:15 a.m. in Greensboro, N.C.
Guilford's SAAC is comprised of representatives from each of the school's 16 varsity teams. The group meets regularly to discuss the state of Guilford Athletics and seeks to build community among student-athletes and non-student-athletes on the campus. Recent Guilford SAAC activities include reading to local schoolchildren and dodgeball competitions among representatives from Guilford's administration and athletic teams.
