Guilford placed 18th among 24 teams at the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional Championships on the Quakers' Meadows Course Nov. 14. Sophomore Derick Kosgei led the Quakers with a 33rd-place showing, which earned Guilford's first USTFCCCA all-region honor. He completed the eight-kilometer course in 28:43, which is the 10th-fastest time in school history. Click here for the full results.
Guilford is starting a track and field team that will compete in both indoor and outdoor seasons beginning in 2009-10. Assistant cross country coach Bill Cason has been named the director of Guilford's track and field program. Head cross-country coach Heidi Pinkerton, a former UNC Greensboro track and cross country standout, will serve as the Quakers' assistant track and field coach.
The Quakers' first indoor meet is Christopher Newport University's Holiday Open Dec. 5
