Three-Goal Second Half Lifts Guilford Over Averett, 6-3
GREENSBORO, N.C. (9/9/09) -- Ronnie Castellanos scored two goals and an assist in visiting Guilford College's 6-3 soccer win at Averett University Wednesday. Senior Jeff Floyd added a career-high two goals as the Quakers improved to 2-1-1 with the nonconference road win.
Castellanos' second goal of the match came broke a 1-1 tie in the 15th
minute. Floyd doubled the Quakers' edge 15 minutes later as Guilford built
a 3-2 halftime lead.
Levi Earl scored twice for the Cougars (2-2), including a penalty kick in
the 38th minute that drew Averett to within one.
Peter Truitt made seven saves in goal for Guilford, which plays Marymount
University Saturday (9/12) in Hampden-Sydney College's Tiger Invitational.
